Miniature park in Istanbul, Turkey
Miniaturk is a miniature park and open-air museum on the north-eastern shore of the Golden Horn in the Sutluce district of Istanbul, opened on 2 May 2003. It is one of the largest miniature parks in the world, with a 15,000-square-metre model area within a total of 60,000 square metres, and receives more than 800,000 visitors a year. The park holds 135 models at 1:25 scale of the best-known monuments of Turkey and its surroundings: 60 from Istanbul, such as Hagia Sophia, the Galata Tower and Topkapi Palace, 63 from Anatolia, such as the houses of Safranbolu, the Sumela Monastery near Trabzon and Mount Nemrut, and 13 from former Ottoman lands outside Turkey, among them the Dome of the Rock in Al-Quds and the bridge of Mostar. Structures that no longer survive are recreated too, such as the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus (Bodrum) and the Ajyad Fortress of Makkah. Pools and waterways, benches and shaded paths run through the park, with a miniature train, a crystal museum and a playground, making it one of Istanbul's best destinations for families and children, and for anyone who wants to see "all of Turkey" in two hours.
Open daily 09:00–18:00; tickets are about 250 TL with a concession for residents (per Wikivoyage, 2026). Allow two hours, and come on a weekday morning to avoid school groups. Use the audio card at each model for explanations in several languages. There are cafes, a restaurant, a prayer room and parking for 300 cars; arrive by bus from Eminonu or Taksim or by ferry to Sutluce. Combine it with the nearby Rahmi Koc Museum.
