Kuala Lumpur Bird Park is a 20.9-acre (8.5-hectare) public aviary in the heart of the Malaysian capital and one of the world's largest covered bird parks. It lies in the city's green belt of gardens next to the 60-hectare Perdana Botanical Gardens, the Butterfly Park, the National Mosque and the Royal Malaysian Police Museum, making it part of a full day among parks and museums. The park houses more than 3,000 birds of over 200 species inside a vast enclosed netted aviary; about 90 percent are native Malaysian birds and 10 percent were imported from countries such as Australia, China, the Netherlands, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea, Tanzania and Thailand. Highlights include the free-roaming birds that wander among visitors, from peacocks to the large hornbills, a well-made artificial waterfall, a large flamingo pond and bird shows at set times. Inside the park the Hornbill Restaurant lets diners sit among the birds, though Wikivoyage notes it is not cheap, and the park is a stop for the city's sightseeing buses.
According to Wikivoyage (2026) the park is open daily 9:00 to 18:00, and foreign visitors pay RM67 for adults and RM45 for children. Go early in the morning, when the birds are most active and the air is cooler, bring an umbrella or hat and water as the paths are long, and allow two to three hours. The park is very suitable for children and pushchairs. The National Mosque is a short walk away for prayer, and the visit combines with the Islamic Arts Museum and the Perdana Botanical Gardens in one day. Arrive by taxi, by the free GOKL bus or on foot from KL Sentral in about 20 minutes.
