Aisha Alrajhi Mosque — mosque in Saudi Arabia. Located in Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
The Aisha Al-Rajhi Mosque is a large Friday mosque in the Al-Naseem district of Mecca, owned by the Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Al-Rajhi endowment company and opened on 22 Sha'ban 1434 AH (2013) in the presence of the governor of Makkah Province, Prince Khalid Al-Faisal. It is one of the most striking modern mosques in Mecca's neighbourhoods. It is built in Mamluk style, its walls adorned with fine Mamluk-inspired carving. A large dome 13.2 metres across rises 43 metres above the ground, surrounded by four mid-sized domes seven metres across and 34 metres high and two small domes, while two minarets, each 68 metres tall, are visible from across the district. Inside are a three-level men's prayer hall and a two-level women's hall, with integrated electronic control of lighting, cooling and sound, combining historic Islamic architecture with modern technology. Residents and visitors come here to pray, especially for Friday prayers and Ramadan taraweeh.
Mecca is open to Muslims only. This is a place of worship: dress modestly; women wear hijab and pray in their own hall. It fills up for Friday prayers and on Ramadan nights, so arrive early. It is in Al-Naseem, away from the central area, so a car or taxi is easiest.
