Park in Doha, Qatar
Al Bidda Park, formerly Rumeilah Park, lies on Corniche Street in Doha next to the Qatar National Theatre, overlooking Doha Bay, and is one of the city's oldest and best-loved parks. Created in the 1990s, it closed for renovation in November 2014 and reopened, larger and refreshed, in February 2018 to mark National Sports Day. It spreads across wide lawns, trees, palms and paths, with an outdoor theatre, an art gallery, water features, children's playgrounds, a skate half-pipe, a cultural village and heritage centre, small shops and cafés. It is also one of the city's favourite birdwatching spots. Sitting between the Corniche and central Doha, it is a perfect starting point for a waterfront walk, with views of the West Bay towers and across the bay to the Museum of Islamic Art.
Late afternoon and evening are best, especially from October to April; in summer, go late in the evening. A metro station nearby makes it easy to reach. It is very family-friendly, with public toilets. Combine it with a Corniche walk and nearby Souq Waqif.
