Konyaalti Beach is one of Antalya's two main beaches, the other being Lara, on the western side of the city below the sea cliffs, stretching some 13 kilometres along the bay to the foot of the Taurus Mountains that form its famous backdrop. It is made up mainly of fine pebbles with some sand, the water is beautifully clear, and it holds Blue Flag status confirming its water quality and cleanliness. Inland it is bounded by the long Beach Park with its promenade, lawns, cafes, restaurants and hotels, and at its far end by the Aqualand waterpark on Dumlupinar Boulevard; the Antalya Aquarium and the Antalya Museum lie on the same road, making the area a complete destination for a family day. The seafront was redeveloped in recent years with a wide modern promenade, public facilities and sports areas. Konyaalti is the favourite of Antalya's residents and families for its closeness to the centre and easy tram access, and the view of the mountains behind it at sunset is one of the finest sights in the city.
