The Sultan Alaaddin Mosque is a mosque in the heart of Kaleiçi, the old town of Antalya, on Zafer Street in the Kılıçaslan neighbourhood of the Muratpaşa district. The building was originally a church; Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons record its establishment in 1834, it later served for a time as a museum, and it was converted into a mosque in 1958 according to the Türkiye'nin Tarihi Eserleri encyclopaedia, which also notes that the present minaret was built in 1962. It should not be confused with the nearby Yivli Minare Mosque, built in the reign of the Seljuk sultan Alaeddin Keykubad I. The building follows a three-aisled basilica plan, lit by high windows on both sides, with entrances on the east and west facades; the former church gallery now serves as the women's prayer area. Its painted wooden ceiling with intricate star motifs is preserved and sets it apart among Antalya's mosques, and it is one of the rare buildings to have both a bell tower and a minaret. The mosque is administered by the General Directorate of Foundations. It stands among the restored Ottoman houses and small hotels of the Kaleiçi lanes, one of the places that tell the story of the old town's transformations over the last two centuries.
The mosque is in use, so it is a convenient place to pray while exploring Kaleiçi; dress modestly, women should cover their hair and shoes come off inside, and it may be closed outside prayer times. Look up to admire the star-painted ceiling. It is a few minutes' walk from the old harbour and Hadrian's Gate and combines easily with the Ahi Yusuf Mosque and Tomb and the Kaleiçi Museum.
