Atlantis The Royal, Dubai is a hotel resort at the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai in the United Arab Emirates. The 760 room, 16 restaurant resort has the world's largest jellyfish aquarium. Out of the 102 VIP suites, 44 have their own private pools. Outdoor areas remain cooled 10 months out of the year using shades, pools, plants, and ornamental fountains. Atlantis the Royal is one of the most expensive hotels in the world, where the price of the "Royal Mansion" suite exceeds $100,000 per night.
Atlantis, The Palm is a luxury resort at the apex of the Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, the first resort built on the artificial island. It opened on 24 September 2008 as a joint venture between Kerzner International and Istithmar World. Themed on the myth of the lost city of Atlantis and blended with Arabian architectural elements, it has a 1,544-room hotel in two towers joined by the giant arch that has become one of the most photographed images of Dubai. What makes Atlantis a destination for day visitors as well as guests are its attractions: the Aquaventure waterpark with its thrilling slides and private beach; The Lost Chambers aquarium, home to more than 65,000 marine animals in tanks styled as the ruins of a sunken city; underwater suites looking into the Ambassador Lagoon; a large shopping area; and some 35 restaurants, including famous international names and an underwater restaurant. The resort is linked to the mainland by the monorail that runs the length of the Palm's trunk, a ride that in itself gives views of the island and the Dubai skyline. Atlantis remains one of Dubai's most popular family destinations for all ages.
Aquaventure and the aquarium can be visited on separate tickets without staying at the hotel; book online in advance for lower prices and shorter queues, and allow a full day for the waterpark. Weekdays outside school holidays are quieter. The monorail from the trunk of the Palm is an easy way in with a fine view. For conservative families, note that the beach and slides are mixed; halal food options are plentiful throughout the resort.
