Exhibition space in the UAE
The Museum of the Future is one of the most striking cultural and technological landmarks in the world, in Dubai's Financial District on Sheikh Zayed Road beside the Emirates Towers. Founded by the Dubai Future Foundation, it was officially opened by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum on 22 February 2022 and welcomed more than a million visitors from 163 countries in its first year. The building has three elements: the green hill on which it stands, the steel-clad torus-shaped structure, and the void at its centre, symbolising the unknown. Its windows are formed by Arabic calligraphy of a poem about the future written by Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, which has made it one of the most distinctive buildings anywhere and one of Dubai's finest sights after dark, when the script is illuminated. Inside, seven floors are devoted to exploring the future of science, technology and innovation, especially robotics, artificial intelligence, space, health and the environment, through immersive experiences that begin with an imagined journey to a space station in 2071, plus a floor for children. Some visitors feel it is closer to an expensive art installation than a traditional science museum, but the building itself is an experience worth seeing.
Open daily 10:00–18:00, with tickets around AED 145 (per Wikivoyage, 2026); entry is by timed slot, so book ahead on the official website, as tickets sell out in high season. Allow two to three hours. The exterior photographs best after sunset when the calligraphy lights up, from Emirates Towers metro station opposite or from the footbridge. Young children enter free below a set age, and there is a restaurant on site and prayer facilities nearby. It suits families and anyone interested in technology.
