City Centre Deira is the original flagship mall of Majid Al Futtaim Properties, located in Port Saeed in the older part of Dubai at the crossroads between Sharjah, Bur Dubai and the airport. It opened on 28 November 1995 at an initial cost of AED 300 million and was the largest mall in the city at the time; it covers some 123,000 square metres on three levels with more than 370 shops and 3,600 parking spaces. The mall mixes international high-street brands with local shops, a large Carrefour hypermarket, a multiplex cinema and many restaurants and cafes, plus the Arabian Treasures section for souvenirs and traditional textiles and a newer extension of upmarket boutiques and restaurants. It connects directly to the City Centre Hotel and Residences and to the Majid Al Futtaim office tower, and draws an average of about 22 million visitors a year. It remains one of the most popular malls among residents and visitors of old Dubai thanks to its position near the airport, the Creek and the traditional souks, and to its own Red Line metro station directly outside.
Open Sunday to Wednesday 10:00–22:00 and Thursday to Saturday 10:00–midnight (per Wikivoyage). Arriving by metro (City Centre Deira station, Red Line) avoids the busy car parks. Good for moderately priced shopping and traditional gifts in the Arabian Treasures section; there are prayer rooms and plenty of halal food in the food court. Combine it with the nearby Gold and Spice souks of Deira.
