Indoor ski slope in Dubai

Ski Dubai is the first indoor ski resort in the Middle East and one of Dubai's most famous attractions, inside the Mall of the Emirates in Al Barsha and run by the Majid Al Futtaim Group. It opened in November 2005 with 22,500 square metres of indoor ski area, real snow and a temperature kept between −1 and 2 °C all year round; it won the Thea Award for Outstanding Achievement in 2007 and was named the world's best indoor ski resort for the sixth year running in 2022. The resort has an 85-metre indoor mountain, the height of a 25-storey building, with five slopes of varying difficulty including a 400-metre run and the world's first indoor black-diamond run, a chairlift and a tow lift, with skis and jackets included in the ticket. Beside the slopes is a 3,000-square-metre Snow Park for families, with sled and toboggan runs, an icy body slide, climbing towers, giant snowballs and an ice cave, and a colony of penguins let out of their enclosure several times a day, with bookable penguin encounters. Snow in the heart of the desert is the great draw for Gulf families and visitors from hot countries, and it suits complete beginners thanks to the ski school and lessons.
